Three thousand Assyrians were received into full communion with the Catholic Church this weekend, led by their bishop (Mar Bawai Soro, pictured at right) who became convinced of the unique role of the primacy of the episcopal successor of St. Peter in grounding and preserving the unity of the Church. The story, including an excerpt from Bishop Soro's paper "The Position of the Church of the East Theological Tradition on the Questions of Church Unity and Full Communion" is available here.This is just the beginning, in my opinion.
