Would you say there is difficulty (for Orthodox-Catholic unity) created by the fact that some Orthodox Churches recognize Anglican orders as valid?
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to start trouble, it's just that "intercommunion" to me sounds like both sides recognize a valid Eucharist in the other.

ReplyDeleteGood question. I don't know how the Orthodox would work that out. There might need to be some 'conditional [re]ordinations'. My previous Anglo-Catholic bishop claimed to have Anglican and Orthodox orders.

ReplyDeleteWhat will be done on the case of the filioque clause? Seems as though Metropolitan Jonah is holding fast to keeping it out of there. Is there anything out there where we catch the dialogue on the issue between Rome and Constantinople in these councils that have been held?

ReplyDeleteThat too is a good question. I haven't seen anything of the sort you are asking about, on the filioque. The recent work (and this Fall's work) has been on the role of the bishop of Rome. That may be more fundamental than the filioque. Let's continue to pray for reconciliation and reunion.
